What’s Good

CRM sync that works. On the Business plan, Fireflies pushes meeting summaries, action items, and key topics directly into HubSpot and Salesforce records. Based on my testing and user feedback, the sync is reliable - data lands in the right place without manual intervention most of the time. Where it’s less reliable is capturing deal sentiment - the AI captures what was said but not always the subtext.

Broadest platform support. Fireflies works with more conferencing tools than any competitor I’ve tested. Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, BlueJeans, Skype, Dialpad, and more. If your team uses multiple platforms (or you’re frequently joining calls on a client’s preferred tool), this flexibility matters.

Fast deployment. The most common positive theme in user reviews is how quickly teams get up and running. Install the calendar integration, and Fred starts joining meetings automatically. There’s minimal configuration required compared to tools like Avoma that have more complex onboarding.

Conversation intelligence at a fair price. Talk-time ratios, question frequency, longest monologues, topic tracking - these are features that Gong charges $100+/seat for. Fireflies delivers them at $19/seat (annual). They’re not as deep as Gong’s analytics, but for teams that want basic coaching visibility without an enterprise budget, it’s hard to beat.

What’s Not Good

English-only interface. This comes up repeatedly in reviews from international teams. The transcription handles 100+ languages, but the platform interface itself is English-only. For global sales organizations, this is a real limitation. tl;dv offers 7 interface languages.

Crosstalk handling is mediocre. When two people talk at the same time - which happens constantly in sales negotiations - Fireflies tends to garble or drop the overlapping words. This is a common limitation across AI meeting tools, but users consistently report that tl;dv handles it slightly better.

Free plan is too limited to be useful. Unlike Fathom (unlimited everything for free), Fireflies’ free tier caps AI summaries and limits storage to 800 minutes. For anyone doing more than a handful of meetings per month, you’ll hit the limits fast. The free plan works for evaluation, not daily use.

Summary nuance. The AI summaries capture facts well but miss emotional context. A prospect who’s being politely negative might get summarized as “expressed interest in next steps.” This matters for sales teams where reading between the lines is half the job. No tool does this perfectly, but it’s worth knowing the limitation.

It’s not perfect. The English-only interface limits it for global teams. The free plan is too restricted to compete with Fathom. And the summary AI captures facts better than feelings.

But for a 5-20 person sales team using HubSpot or Salesforce, Fireflies is the tool I’d pick first. The ROI math is straightforward: if it saves each rep 30 minutes a week on CRM updates and note-taking, the $19/month pays for itself in a single afternoon.
